Vindilis Insula

Vindilis Insula on the Atlantic coast of Gallia, is mentioned in the Maritime Itin. after Uxantis and Sina or Sena. Middle age documents prove that the island of Belle-île was once named Guedel, and this is the name Vindilis, the interchange of Gu or G and W or V being common. [VAPINCUM] Though this is the only evidence, it is sufficient, for the names agree, and Belle-île is not likely to have been omitted in the Itin., when smaller islands along the coast are mentioned.
