Lesora Mons
Lesora Mons (Mont Lozère), a summit of the Cévennes, above 4800 feet high, is mentioned by Sidonius Apollinaris (Carm. 24, 44) as containing the source of the Tarnis (Tarn):--
Hinc te Lesora Caucasum Scytharum
Vincens aspiciet citusque Tarnis.
The pastures on this mountain produced good cheese in Pliny's time (H. N. 11.42), as they do now. Month Lozère gives its name to the French department Lozère.
