Cophen

Κωφήν

Cophen (Κωφήν, Steph. B. sub voce Ἀραχωσία; Plin. Nat. 6.23), a name given by Stephanus and Pliny to the town of Arachosia. Some editions of Pliny read Cutin instead of Cophen. It is not improbable that there has been some confusion between the name of this town and that of the most westerly of the great rivers of the Panjáb, mentioned above. [ARACHOSIA]
