Argentaria

Argentaria (Amm. Marc, 31.10; Oros. 7.33; Aur. Vict. Epit. 100.47), also called ARGENTOVARIA, may be Artzenheim in the old province of Alsace, between the Vosges and the Rhine. D'Anville (Notice, &c.), in an elaborate article on Argentovaria, founded on the Antonine Itin. and the Table, has come to this probable conclusion as to the site of Argentaria. Gratian defeated the Alemanni at Argentaria, A.D. 378.
