4. A native of Ascalon, or, according to ether accounts, of Gaza. He lived in the time of the emperor Anastasius.

According to Suidas (s. v.) he was the author of a λέξις ῥητορικὴ κατὰ στοιχεῖον (of which Suidas himself made considerable use).

He also wrote commentaries on Demosthenes and Lysias, some of which are still extant in MS.
