Cleoxenus

Κλεόξενος

(Κλεόξενος), was joint-author with one Democleitus of a somewhat cumbrous system of telegraphing, which Polybius explains (10.45-47) with the remark, that it had been considerably improved by himself. See Suidas, s. v. Κλεόξενος καὶ Δημόκλειτος ἔγραψαν τερὶ πυρσῶν, where περσῶν was the erroneous reading of the old editions.
