Bombylios
βομβυλιός
Bombylios or BOMBYLE (βομβυλιός or βομβυλή, Hesych. s. v.; Schol. ad Apollon. 2.569), a narrow-necked vessel, so called, according to the grammarians, from the gurgling sound caused by the flow of the liquid from it, like the buzzing sound made by humble-bees (βομβυλιοί). (Bekker, Anecd. p. 220; Phavorin., Erotian., Suid. s.v. Athen. 11.784; cf. BESA)
