Suāri, ōrum, m.,
I. a people of India, north of the Ganges, Plin. 6, 19, 22, § 69; 6, 23, 25, § 94.
Origins
Possibly from Sora sora, from Proto-Munda *kOrOˀ (“man”), ultimately from Proto-Austroasiatic *m-raʔ (“person”). According to Yeatts (1931), cited by Robert Parkins (1991), the Sanskrit form सावरा (Sāvarā) with /ʋ/ was “a Telugu intrusion”.
